OVERVIEW

Track Battle Pty Ltd is proud to announce the launch of Australia’s newest motor sport event, Track Battle- Australian Time Attack Series. Our aim is to provide un-paralleled levels of media exposure across a broad range of mediums including TV, DVD online and print, while still remaining affordable for the teams, drivers, sponsors and fans. It’s a big ask, but it needs to be done to support and grow the sport of time attack in Australia.
The sport of Time Attack started in Japan with workshops wanting to prove how fast their modified street cars were. As conventional racing has many rules and regulations that street cars don’t need to meet, racing the clock was the only way the tuners could prove who was the best, so the sport of Time Attack was born. Within a set of basic rules. time attack allows owners to build the car of their wildest dreams, making for some truly extreme and powerful machines. It also allows the grass roots racer to bring their streetcar to the track for some action. It’s not uncommon to see WRXs and Evo Lancers sporting over 500hp going against GT-Rs and Supras with over 700hp, making for some exciting action on track. The relaxed rules also means there is plenty of variety out on track. The spirit of time attack is about racing modified street cars on street tyres.
Time Attack Cars will be broken into three categories:
Street Class – For street legal car driven by the registered owner
Tuner Class – Highly modified vehicles
Unlimited Class – Extremely modified vehicles with many custom parts and layouts
Many teams and drivers are building cars specifically for time attack but are seeking more events to use their car in. Track Battle – Australian Time Attack Series will provide more events for time attack cars and allow drivers to compete on a national level with never before seen media coverage for the sport of time attack, including television exposure. This will help bring increased sponsor and fan support, helping the sport grow.
Three events are scheduled for 2011 before moving to a 5-round series in 2012.
