Tuner Class

TUNER CLASS

* The essence of Tuner Class is production vehicles that have been heavily modified for track use. This class is what the sport of time attack is all about, workshops and enthusiasts showing what they can do to what is essentially still a road going car underneath.

 

CATEGORIES

Trophies will be awarded as detailed below;

 

- Tuner Class fastest outright

- Tuner Class runner-up

- Tuner Class fastest 2WD

- Tuner Class fastest 4WD

* Further trophies may be added based on size of entry list

 

DRIVERS and TEAMS

- Professional drivers are permitted

 

VEHICLES

- All cars must be mass produced and available, or have been available, to commercially buy from a major manufacturer as an OEM vehicle

- No open wheel, kit, clubman or tube-frame purpose built race cars are permitted, as determined by event staff

- All cars must have one engine and four wheels only

- Competition is not open to rear-engine cars with 6-cylinders or more

- Competition is not open to mid-engine cars with 8 cylinders or more

- Competition is not open to V10 or V12 engine factory cars

- Vehicles do not have to be road registered

 

MODIFICTIONS

Chassis

- All convertibles must be fitted with a roll over hoop

- Full roll cages are permitted

- Seam/stich/spot welding is permitted

- The factory uni-body must remain intact between the front and rear strut towers, this includes A, B and C-pillars, floor, firewall, rear wheel arches and chassis rails

- The full length of the chassis rails must remain intact

- The factory strut towers must be retained and used

- The gearbox tunnel and floor can only be modified to allow fitment of a larger gearbox. The metal must be replaced with metal of equal thickness and weight

- Tubbing of front guards is permitted

- Tubbing of rear guards is not permitted but over-fenders are permitted

Engine

- Engine conversions are permitted but must be located in the factory position and use the same drive train configuration.

ie A front wheel drive vehicle must remain a front wheel drive vehicle

- All engines must be from a mass-produced vehicle from a major manufacturer

- Specialised race-engines are not permitted

- Engine internal and bolt-on modifications are free

- Side-exit exhaust systems must not protrude further than the bodywork and must exit the vehicle rearward of the mid point of the wheelbase.

- Nitrous Oxide is not permitted

- All vehicles must use un-leaded petroleum fuels or ethanol blends

- The firewall is not permitted to be modified to allow the engine to be moved forwards or backwards. It can be modified to allow fitment of a larger engine to allow factory placement of the engine. This must be approved by event staff and show that the COG of the engine has not been moved rearward. Firewall can also be modified to allow fitment of a larger gearbox and easier removal. If a car is running the original engine type it can not be moved.

 

Driveline

- Aftermarket gearboxes and gearsets are permitted

- An OEM differential must be used from the same manufacturer

- Aftermarket differential centres are permitted

- Factory differential mounting points must be used

- Aftermarket carbon-fibre tailshafts are permitted

 

Suspension and steering

- The factory suspension layout must be used

ie A car with McPherson Strut must remain so

- The factory front and rear sub-frames must be retained but can be re-enforced with brackets, welding and bracing and can be moved by the use of aftermarket bushings.

- Suspension mounting points may be moved up to 15mm as long as they still allow the fitment of a standard suspension arm

- Knuckles and up-rights are free but must retain OEM style multi-lug hubs

- Coilover suspension is permitted

- Direct replacement aftermarket adjustable suspension arms are permitted

- Aftermarket suspension bushes are permitted

- An OEM steering rack must be used but a quick rack system can be fitted internally

- Aftermarket bolt-on tie rods and tie rod ends are permitted

 

Brakes

- Brake modifications are free

 

Wheels and Tyres

- Wheel size is free

- Centre lock wheels are not permitted

- R-Compound treaded radial semi-slick tyres are permitted

- Shaving of tread is not permitted

- Tyres must be commercially available in Australia and DOT and ADR approved

- Event staff reserve the right to conduct spot inspections of tyres and any competitors using in-correct tyres will be disqualified.

- Competitors are only permitted to use a maximum of two sets of tyres ( 8 in total ) on the competition day.

 

Bodywork

- Aftermarket lightweight FRP or carbon-fibre replacement panels and roof are permitted as long as a roll cage is fitted to the vehicle

- Aftermarket lightweight doors are only permitted to be fitted if the car is fitted with an approved weld-in roll cage

- Aero modifications are free as long as no mechanical devices are used to aid downforce

- Car must retain the overall factory bodyshape

- The factory glass front windscreen must be retained. All other glass can be replaced by lexan

 

Interior

- Cars must be fitted with a full length dashboard

- Seat(s) must be factory fitment or FIA approved bucket seats

 

SAFETY

- All cars must have a fire extinguisher securely installed within reach of the driver

- All vehicles must be equipped with a 3-point FIA approved harness or better

 

EXTRA

-All vehicles must keep the top of the front windscreen free for the event window banner

- All vehicles must alloy room for a entrant number and sponsors door sticker

 

* Please note Refunds for cancellation or withdrawal of an Entrant will not be issued under and circumstance. The Entrant may replace their spot with another eligible driver subject to approval to Track Battle Pty Ltd.

    Could you change the fuel rules to allow Diesel.
