We are proud to announce that Sony Action Cam is now the official on-board camera of the Just Car Insurance Australian Drifting Grand Prix. Our media partner, Motive DVD, who are owned by ADGP television show producer, Jet Multimedia Pty Ltd, have been testing an array of on-board/POV cameras over the last 5 years, often to destruction, and have decided the Sony Action Cam is the number 1 choice. All on-board footage, both internal and external, at ADGP will now be taken by the Sony Action Cam. We will also be producing a new behind the scenes online TV show called, ADGP Extra Action, shot exclusively on the Sony Action Cam. it will take you behind the scenes at the event for a little fun and, of course, some extra action.
I have tried pretty much every action/POV camera on the market, often to destruction, and so many of them simply can’t stand the abuse and amount of work we put them through at Motive DVD and Jet Multimedia. Motorsport is a harsh environment, and we don’t just run them in one car per day, but sometimes up to 10 or more! I’ve used Sony Pro cameras for a long time now, and when I heard they were releasing an action cam to compete with GoPro, I was very excited. The first version of the Sony Action Cam had a few issues, many of which we helped raise, but the 2nd version is great. GoPro 3+ Black image quality but with better sound ( in the skelton case ), better reliability and battery life and best of all its cheaper! Not only will I be using them exclusively now, but Motive DVD is now a dealer of them too! I don;t want to sell something I don;t use myself and can’t stand behind.
Andrew Hawkins – Producer Jet Multimedia Pty Ltd / Motive DVD
Sony Australia have given Jet Multimedia 10 new Sony Action Cams along with the LCD case, that turns the Action Cam into a compact, light and affordable Handycam! But it doesn’t end there, Sony Australia will also be choosing 5 ADGP drivers to be Sony Action Cam ambassadors. Each driver will be given two Sony Action Cams, one to mount permanently on their helmet and one to use to capture behind the scenes action for the new online TV show ADGP Extra Action. The first episode will be based around ADGP Round 2 and set to air just after Christmas.
As you can see, Sony Australia has looked after us and we certainly won’t be short a camera, meaning we capture more action for the television coverage. If you want o buy your very own action camera, Motive DVD are now official Sony Action Cam dealers, and have a range of great offers. To buy simply CLICK HERE

Thanks to Achilles Radial we already had organised for Daigo Saito to appear at Round 2 of the Just Car Insurance Australian Drifting GP as a guest judge, but now thanks to LSX drift, he will be competing in ADGP National as an international wild card behind the wheel of the V8 powered Nissan S15. ADGP National only allows wild card entrants from overseas, when spots are made available, to help spice up the competition. Many drivers dream of driving with or against Daigo Saito, and now, many will get the chance for the first time at Barbagallo Raceway on the 7th and 8th of December. Daigo will also be doing some passenger rides, that spectators can win, as well as teaching at an advanced drift school on Monday the 9th.
Daigo normally drives a Lexus in Formula Drift Asia and USA, and a Chaser in D1GP in Japan, all with between 800-1300 horsepower! It has taken him to a D1GP Championship, 2 Formula Drift Asia Championships and a Formula Drift USA Championship in 2012. He is currently considered by many one of, if not the, best drifter on the planet. He also still regularly drivers his “missile” drift cars in Japan and practises with drivers from all around the globe. He stay true to the roots of drifting, driving at both ends of the spectrum, from Matsuris and just for fun through to top level pro competition.
The LSX Drift S15 showcases the LSX conversion and performance products, with an LS1 fitted into the engine bay where a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine used to sit. It will be running on Achilles 123S tyres for the event. The V8 conversion is becoming more and more popular due to its reliability and power and torque characteristics. For more info: CLICK HERE

The competition in ADGP State was fierce, with 34 drivers trying to qualify for 16 spots in the battles on Sunday. Many drivers were chasing a good result to help them earn an invite into ADGP National next season. Leigh Pidwell was looking like the one to beat in the battles, and made it all the way to the finals against Jarrad Klingberg, but a blown turbo gasket in the first run, whihc he had the advantage in,. meant he had to push harder due to lack of power, but pushed to hard and sun, giving the win to Jarrad Klingberg. Dave Dermody was driving great but broke a box in the Top-8, but managed to get the win before breaking another box in the Top-4, giving the 3rd place spot to Jackson Callow. The full results list is below as well as the Top-16 Battle Tree.
Round 1 of the Just Car Insurance Australian Drifting GP has just finished up and what an epic battle it was!
Andreas Paraskevas had an epic battle with Michael Prosenik in the finals and took the win in the Just Car Insurance Nissan 180SX. Josh Boettcher got a bye run in the battle for third after Nick Coulson’s VE Ute blew a diff in the Top-4. The weekend was filled with action packed battles in both ADGP National and State and it will no doubt continue at Round 2 at Barbagallo Raceway in WA.
Boettcher took Nick Coulson as a passenger on a solo run in the battle for third. Great sportsmanship
The ADGP State competition was won by local driver Jarrod Klingberg with Leigh Pidwell in 2nd and Jackson Callow in 3rd.
Here are the results, and now the championship standings.
