Round 3 of the Just Car Insurance Australian Drifting GP is done and dusted. Temperatures soared to 36 degrees today, but the action and drama was even hotter on track. Some drivers returned to form, some were out of form and some new people stepped it up this weekend, mixing up the closest championship we’ve had, once again. In the Top-4, collisions in both battles left Levi Clarke, Andy Gray and Simon Michelmore’s cars all damaged. Rob Whyte’s team helped Levi get his car fixed to compete in the finals while Ben Purtell lent Simon the front right suspension from his car to fix his S14 all while Andy Gray’s team got the JZX100 ready to battle as well making it a full field for the finals and even more exciting battles!
Andy Gray pipped Simon Michelmore to take 3rd, while a mistake from Rob Whyte handed the win to Levi Clarke who took home his first podium and first win in ADGP. The Championship had been shaken up again with almost the entire leaderboard changed! This will make Round 4 very fierce as the entire Top-10 have a shot at the 13/14 title!
ADGP Round 3 Qualifying was pretty tough. 40 cars trying to qualify for 16 spots in State made it tough to judge, but there were some standouts! Here are the results, we have photos and article to come later tonight. ** Please note, ADGP National Qualifying is currently tentative. Due to timing constraints and event curfew, event management had no choice but to close the track at 1730. Unfortunately, Elliot Wylie was not able to complete his second qualifying run. He will be given the opportunity to complete his 2nd run on Sunday morning at the start of ADGP National warm-up.

Round 2 of the Just Car Insurance Australian Drifting Grand Prix in WA has been named “The Blender”. Results from Rd 1 and Rd 2 are so varied, the championship rankings have been thrown into a blender and now come out the other end! Toyota struck back by taking the #1 qualifying spot on Saturday, and now two Toyota’s on the podium, with Matt Harvey from Tasmania taking his win and first podium in ADGP. Matt Russell stepped it up and took 2nd place, also his first podium. Toyota’s also placed 5th, Andy Gray, and 9th, thanks to Beau Yates. Dale Campaign took his 2nd podium in ADGP,with 3rd, and is now in the lead of the Championship! John Papadopoulos finally got some luck on his side and to show his potential, taking 4th. Here is the final results from the weekend.
Round 2 of the Just Car Insurance Australian Drifting GP had one of the mist interesting and mixed up qualifying sessions we’ve ever seen. It was also one of the closest! But in the end, Beau Yates took the number one spot in the Wynns/Nitto Toyota 86. A big feat considering it is a new car, the only of its type in Oz and Beau only drove it in anger for the first time here in WA and it was the cars competition debut! Micheal Rosenblatt was on point taking 2nd and John Papadopoulos got his best ADGP result to date, qualifying in 3rd! From 2nd to 6th was very close indeed and the battles are set to be intense tomorrow! So get yourself down to Barbagallo Raceway in WA Sunday 8th to check out the action.
